In the last two weeks (from 12th to 22nd November 2019), Uganda Meat Producers Cooperative Union Ltd has interacted with cattle farmers from the districts of Isingiro, Ntungamo, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Gulu, Omoro, Kiryandongo, Nakasongola and Nakaseke during different meetings in the specified areas, in partnership with the district leadership. This week the team is in Ssembabule, Bukomansimbi, Lwengo, and Masaka districts.

Key on the agenda is the call for cattle farmers to form primary cooperative societies or join the existing ones under UMPCU in order to benefit from the Farmer Led Beef Livestock Investment and Sustainability project (FALBIIS). The project focuses on enhancing beef meat production, productivity, and quality assurance through climate-smart, locally developed smallholder, rural livelihoods and producer gender-responsive groups.

With funding from the European Union, FALBIIS is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries.
