The Uganda Meat Producers Cooperative Union Ltd (UMPCU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, and the European Union through the Developing a Market-Oriented and Environmentally Sustainable Beef Meat Industry Project, are implementing the Farmer Led Beef Livestock Investment and Sustainability project. This is a direct grant aimed at enhancing beef meat production, productivity, and quality assurance through climate-smart, locally developed smallholder, rural livelihoods and producer gender-responsive groups.

The result areas of the project are:

  1. Promote animal disease control and prevention
  2. Improve pasture (rangeland) management
  3. Promote supplementary feeding for enhanced livestock growth rates

In order to participate in the project activities, the farmers are required to be members of cattle producer cooperative societies within the target districts.

UMPCU has organized a Cattle farmer dialogue, mobilization and sensitization for participation in the Farmer Led Beef Livestock Investment and Sustainability project (FALBIIS) to take place in the districts of: Isingiro, Ntungamo, Mbarara, Kiruhura, Gulu (with Omoro), Kiryandongo, Nakasongola, Nakaseke, Sembabule, Bukomansimbi, Lwengo, Masaka, Gomba, Mubende, Kyankwanzi and Luwero from 12th November 2019 to 6th December 2019.
